Terms of service
The agreement for using Zazen. Effective October 22, 2026.
The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Zazen, LLC for the use of Zazen at https://app.getzazen.com, including its web app and its connector for AI assistants. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. You must be at least 18. If you accept for a business, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it.
What the service is
Zazen is bookkeeping software: it records and reports your financial transactions. It is not tax, legal, accounting or investment advice, and it does not replace a qualified professional's review of your books or returns.
Zazen never moves money. It does not make payments, transfer funds or connect to your bank; it keeps a record of what happened.
Your account and your books
- Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what is done through your account.
- You own the data you put into Zazen. You give us permission to store and process it only to run Zazen for you. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service while these terms apply.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of your books and for what you file or report from them.
- The people who manage your organization decide who can see and change each book.
Connected AI assistants
- You choose whether to connect an AI assistant (such as Claude or ChatGPT), and you authorize it by signing in with your own account.
- A connected assistant acts on your behalf. What it records, changes or posts in your books is your responsibility, as if you had done it yourself.
- An assistant can never do more than you can. You set a ceiling for each one (read only, record but not post, or post) and can lower it or disconnect it at any time in Settings › Connected agents.
- An assistant cannot administer your organization or anyone's access.
- Your use of the assistant itself is governed by your agreement with its provider.
Acceptable use
Don't use Zazen to break the law, to access books you have not been given, to disrupt the service or overload it (including by automated access other than through the connector), to probe or attack its security, or to resell the hosted service.
Fees
Zazen is free for your first 60 days. To keep using it after that, it costs $10 a month for up to 5 sets of books.
If you don't subscribe after the free period, your books become read-only: you can still see and export them, but not change them.
Availability and changes
Zazen is provided as available, without an uptime guarantee. We may change the service over time. If we make a material change to these terms, we will email account holders at least 30 days before it takes effect; continuing to use Zazen after that means you accept the change.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Zazen at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, or end the service with 30 days' notice, during which you can export your books.
You can export your books at any time from the Reports page, including while they are read-only. If your books have been read-only for 90 days, we may delete them; we will email you before we do. Deleted data is handled as described in the privacy policy.
Disclaimers and liability
Zazen is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You are responsible for reviewing your books and anything a connected assistant does in them.
To the extent the law allows, Zazen, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and $100.
You will indemnify Zazen, LLC against claims by third parties arising from your data or your breach of these terms.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
Any dispute arising from these terms or Zazen will be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, seated in Palm Beach County, Florida. Either side may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court. Anything not subject to arbitration will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Palm Beach County, Florida.
Disputes are resolved individually: you and Zazen, LLC each waive the right to bring or join a class, collective or representative action, and each waive the right to a jury trial.
